AceURMath ("we," "us," or "our") operates the AceURMath mobile application and website (together, the "Service"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of every family that uses AceURMath — and especially the privacy of children.
Because AceURMath is designed for children, we comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA") and other applicable children's privacy laws. Please read Section 5 — Children's Privacy carefully.
By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to:
- Parents and guardians who create and manage family accounts;
- Teachers and school administrators who use our classroom features; and
- Children whose profiles are created and supervised by a parent, guardian, or authorized educator.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information. When a parent, guardian, or teacher creates an account, we collect a name, email address, and password (passwords are stored in encrypted/hashed form).
- Child profile information. An adult sets up each child profile. This may include the child's first name or display name, grade level, and a selected avatar. We intentionally limit the personal information collected about children to what is needed to provide the Service.
- Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by our payment partners (Apple, Google, Stripe, and RevenueCat). We do not collect or store full payment card numbers ourselves.
- Communications. If you contact us (for example, by emailing support), we keep a record of that correspondence so we can respond and improve our support.
2.2 Information created through use of the Service
- Learning and performance data. Answers, scores, progress, mastery levels, streaks, points, rewards, time spent, and similar data generated as a child practices — used to personalize learning and create progress reports for parents and teachers.
- Homework Scanner images. When a user takes a photo of a math problem, the image is used to generate a step-by-step solution. We do not use these images to build advertising profiles.
- In-app activity. Features used, sessions, and similar activity within the app.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device & technical information. Device type, operating system, and app version, plus general diagnostic information used to keep the app working and to fix crashes.
- We do not use third-party advertising trackers inside the children's app experience.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
- personalize learning and adapt difficulty to each child;
- manage accounts and process subscriptions;
- generate progress reports for parents and teachers;
- send service-related communications;
- maintain security and prevent fraud or abuse;
- comply with legal obligations; and
- improve and develop the Service.
We do not use children's personal information for behavioral advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles of children.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
AceURMath is intended to be used by children under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or authorized educator.
- Parental consent. Child profiles are created and managed by a parent, guardian, or teacher who has the authority to consent to the collection of the child's information. We collect personal information from a child only after such an adult has set up the child's profile.
- Limited collection. We collect only the information reasonably necessary for a child to participate in the Service, and we never require a child to disclose more information than is necessary to use a feature.
- No behavioral advertising. We do not serve targeted or behavioral advertising to children, and we do not permit third parties to do so through the children's experience.
- Parental rights. A parent or guardian may, at any time, review the personal information we have collected from their child, request that we delete it, and refuse to allow further collection or use. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity and your relationship to the child before acting on a request.
- Educators. Where a school or teacher creates child accounts, the school or teacher represents that it has the authority (including any required parental consent) to do so on behalf of parents, consistent with applicable law.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described here:
Service providers. We share information with vendors who help us operate the Service, under contracts that require them to protect the information and use it only to provide services to us. These include:
- cloud hosting and database providers (to store account and learning data);
- payment and subscription processors (Apple, Google, Stripe, RevenueCat);
- email and communication providers (to send service-related messages);
- AI service providers (to power the AI Tutor and Homework Scanner solutions); and
- diagnostic / error-monitoring providers (to detect and fix technical issues), where enabled.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, and to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or AceURMath.
Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will continue to protect it consistent with this policy.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as an account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When an account is closed, or when a parent requests deletion of a child's information, we delete or de-identify the information within a reasonable period — except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest where appropriate. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your family's information and to address issues promptly if they arise.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Parents hold these rights with respect to their children's information (see Section 4).
- California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- Other jurisdictions. Residents of other regions may have similar rights under their local laws.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
9. Cookies & Similar Technologies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for basic functionality, analytics, and — on marketing pages — advertising measurement. The children's app experience does not use third-party advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
10. International Users
AceURMath is operated from the United States. Information we collect is processed and stored in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
